Handspun hand-dyed socks

It's a very simple pair of socks but I feel special about them. This is my first try at hand-dyeing and my first handspun socks. To be honest, I'm not quite sure the way of spinning (2-ply) was the best for socks, but let's wait and see. I have enough yarn left for mending ☺

Anyway, the dyeing was fun and I'm looking forward to my next dyeing project.

Очень простые носочки, но для меня они особенные. Это моя первая попытка окрашивания пряжи и первые носки из самопряда. Если честно, не уверена, что двойное сложение было лучшим выбором для носков, но посмотрим, как долго они протянут. Пряжа на заплатки у меня осталась)

Darning socks

Nothing lasts forever, even sock-yarn socks. I found a hole on the heel yesterday. Actually I can darn socks but I thought, maybe the humankind has invented something new since I did it for the last time. And yes, it has! Ages ago☺

Ничто не вечно под луной, даже носки из носочной пряжи. Вчера нашла дырочку на пятке. Штопать я умею, но вдруг человечество изобрело новый способ с тех пор, как я занималась этим в последний раз? И таки да, изобрело! Причем давно. Называется он "швейцарская штопка". Привожу здесь два варианта. Я воспользовалась первым на этот раз.

I love sock yarn! I don't really need so many socks, but I just can't help buying such a wonderful yarn as I used here - Regia Twin Color.
Needles 2,5 mm, Dutch heel.

Обожаю носочную пряжу! Мне столько носков, в общем-то, и не нужно, но как удержаться, когда видишь такую чудесную пряжу, как, например, эта -  Regia Twin Color.
Спицы 2,5 мм. Пятка - подкова.

New socks for my dear granny whose feet swell often, so I knit stretchy socks for her. Ususally I make rib all over the upper side of a sock.

Fisherman's socks

I named them Fisherman's socks, because of the colour. Again, I took thin homespun wool as basic thread and added rests of sock yarn in gray and blue tones. Needles 3,25 mm.

Еще одни носки  - в подарок дедушке на Рождество. Снова я брала тонкую домашнюю шерсть и добавляла остатки носочной пряжи в синих и серых тонах. Спицы 3,25 мм.

I used very thin homespun wool joined with rests of my sock and lace yarn. Needles 3,25 mm.

I've knitted them yesterday, it really took only one day to finish them (which surprised me because I've always knitted socks with 2 or 2,5mm needles before ☺ )

Носочки в подарок маме на Рождество. За основу я взяла очень тонкую нить домашней шерсти и добавляла остатки своей носочной и платочной пряжи. Спицы номер 3,25.

Dark Sea Socks

I was inspired by the colour, and wanted them to look like stormy sea.

Меня вдохновил цвет пряжи, захотелось, чтобы узор напоминал волны на море.

I 've finished them in a hospital, where knitting was saving my days after the urgent surgery. 

Заканчивать пришлось уже в больнице, где вязание скрасило мне серые деньки после операции.

And here they are, my Dark Sea Socks. Please don't judje the photo... I've just asked my husband to lay on the bed next to me with his legs up, like a pin-up-girl )))

Sandy seems not to like them, maybe because they look quite like her...

Сэнди, кажется, невзлюбила мои новые носки. Наверное, они слишком похожи на нее.

 When I knit socks with multi-coloured yarn, I rarely use complex patterns, I like the colour flow to be seen. So are these socks. Simple 1x1 rib, longer that I usually make, to make the cuff thick and comfy.

Я редко использую сложный узор, когда вяжу из секционной пряжи. Мне нравится без помех наблюдать за тем, как один цвет перетекает в другой. Здесь я связала простую резинку 1на1 и сделала голень длиннее обычного, чтобы носочки стали еще уютнее.

Tweedy socks in  progress... Nice yarn, I can imagine knitting sweater or hat with it. The first picture shows the real colour.
